This dashboard loads the entire selected dataset live, directly from your browser, via the Esri ArcGIS REST API — paginating past the API's 2,000-record-per-request limit to pull every occurrence on file. The Time Period slider in the sidebar then filters the map, graphs, and stat cards to a chosen year range entirely in your browser, with no further network requests. Switching crime type / region (top-left dropdown) loads that dataset the first time, then keeps it cached in memory so you can switch back and forth instantly.

If a direct request is blocked (e.g. by the ArcGIS organization's cross-origin settings), this page automatically retries via JSONP, and as a last resort via the public CORS relay allorigins.win, which simply forwards the same public query — no data is sent to it beyond the request itself.

The data excludes occurrences deemed unfounded, is preliminary and may not be fully verified, and incident locations are deliberately offset to the nearest road intersection to protect privacy — treat all map positions as approximate.

About This Dashboard
Most people hear about crime in the news and move on. I hear about it and start wondering what the data looks like.

I'm Aarav, a high school student who loves creating things that blend engineering, technology, and design. Whether I am modeling mechanical parts in CAD, programming robots, wiring electronics, or building websites and machine learning tools, I am drawn to projects that turn curiosity into something real and useful.

Robotics is where I learned how mechanical design, electronics, and software come together to form intelligent systems. Through competitive robotics, I have worked on everything from custom steering mechanisms and mechanical assemblies to computer vision pipelines, sensors, motors, and autonomous decision making. I enjoy the challenge of making all these pieces work in sync—and the satisfaction of seeing a system come alive.

This crime dashboard started as code for STRIPE competition, but I turned it into something bigger because I have always wondered about the patterns behind thefts and break ins in my area. We hear about these incidents constantly, but the data is rarely easy to see. So I built a tool that makes it clear, visual, and actually useful.

This project started with curiosity and ended with something useful. That is the kind of work I want to keep doing, so thank you for having a look at this website.

I am grateful to Zebra Robotics, which is essentially my second home. Its where I spend countless hours building, experimenting, and learning skills that directly shaped projects like this dashboard.

A note on the data: all figures shown come directly from each police service's own public open data portal, under their respective open government licences. This dashboard makes no claims about data accuracy or completeness beyond what each agency itself publishes, and incident locations are generally offset from the exact address for privacy. This tool is intended for general awareness and exploration, not as an authoritative or real-time public safety resource — for emergencies, always contact 911 or the relevant police service directly.
